ExpenseOnTheGo Privacy Policy

Vega LLC collects no data from the ExpenseOnTheGo app. The app has no user accounts, and Vega LLC operates no servers for it. Your receipts, expenses, reports, identifiers, and app activity are never sent to Vega LLC.

What Vega LLC collects

Nothing from the app. Vega LLC does not collect, receive, sell, rent, share, or use your personal information, expense records, receipt images, or app analytics. The app contains no advertising SDK, analytics SDK, or tracking SDK.

What stays on your device

ExpenseOnTheGo stores your receipt images, vendors, amounts, dates, categories, accounts, clients, projects, reimbursement states, and notes in a local SwiftData database on your device. The Share extension imports only the images and PDFs you explicitly share with the app. Those files pass through the shared app-group container and are stored locally by default. Imported receipt images can sync to your private iCloud database if you enable Pro iCloud Sync, as described below.

Product analytics are also local. The app keeps a capped record of up to 500 events in shared app-group storage for in-app analytics. The record is never uploaded.

Receipt scanning and on-device AI

Receipt scanning uses Apple’s Vision framework to read text from receipt images and Apple Foundation Models to extract details such as vendor, amount, tax, and date on supported devices. Both run on your device. If Apple Intelligence is unavailable or extraction fails, the app uses an on-device rules-based parser. Receipt images, OCR text, and extracted details are not sent to a cloud AI service for scanning or inference. The separate “smart fix” category suggestions use a local keyword table.

Ask AI chat

Ask AI is a Pro feature that answers questions using a summary of your expense data. That summary includes this month’s and last month’s totals, selected top expenses, reimbursement amounts, examples of unpaid reimbursable receipts, and review counts. Your question and the expense summary are processed on your device using a loaded local model or Apple Foundation Models. Your questions, expense context, and generated answers are not sent to Vega LLC, Hugging Face, or a cloud AI service. Ask AI requires an available on-device model and does not have unrestricted access to your full expense history.

The Hugging Face exception

Pro users can optionally download Gemma 3 4B, approximately 2.5 GB, through the app’s local model controls. Gemma can process receipt images directly and support Ask AI, with inference performed locally through MLX. Compatible custom Hugging Face models are also supported; their download sizes and capabilities vary. Model files are fetched from huggingface.co. Hugging Face necessarily receives your IP address and standard request and device information, which it logs under its privacy policy. Vega LLC does not receive that information. The model download does not include your receipt images, OCR text, expense records, or Ask AI questions. Once the files are available, AI inference runs on your device. Apple services used for optional iCloud Sync and subscriptions are described separately below.

Optional iCloud Sync

iCloud Sync is available only to Pro subscribers and is off until you turn it on. When enabled, Apple syncs app data through CloudKit to your own private iCloud database. Apple operates iCloud and CloudKit. Vega LLC cannot access or read that database. Apple's privacy policy governs Apple's processing of iCloud data.

Sensitive identifiers and device features

Full SSN, EIN, and taxpayer ID values are stored in the iOS Keychain using device-only accessibility. They do not sync to another device. The local database stores only a masked value, such as ••••6789, and reports print those identifiers in redacted form.

The app uses Camera and Photos access only when you capture or import receipts. Face ID or Touch ID is used only to unlock the app locally. ExpenseOnTheGo does not read or store biometric data. Notifications contain only counts and the age of pending items, such as “2 receipts need review.” They never include amounts, vendors, or client names.

Subscriptions

Auto-renewing subscriptions are purchased and managed through Apple's StoreKit. Apple processes the transaction under its own terms and privacy policy. Vega LLC never receives your payment card or other payment details. You can manage or cancel a subscription in your Apple account's subscription settings.

Website and support

The ExpenseOnTheGo website is a static site hosted by GitHub Pages. It has no sign-in, sets no cookies on behalf of Vega LLC, runs no tracking scripts, and collects no payments. GitHub, like other web hosts, processes visitor IP addresses and standard request information in server logs under its own privacy terms.

If you email info@expenseonthego.com, Vega LLC receives the email address, message, and attachments you choose to send. We use them to respond to your request, including sending the product launch update if you request one, and keep them no longer than needed for that purpose. You can withdraw a launch-update request by emailing us. Do not email receipts, taxpayer identifiers, or other sensitive expense information.

Retention and deletion

Vega LLC has no app data to retain or delete because the app never sends it to us. Your local data remains until you delete it in the app or delete the app. Deleting ExpenseOnTheGo removes its local database and app files from that device. Sensitive profile identifiers are stored separately in the iOS Keychain; clear those identifiers in the app before deleting it if you want to remove them. You can export CSV and PDF reports first if you want to keep a copy.

Turning off iCloud Sync stops future syncing but does not by itself delete local or previously synced data. To remove synced ExpenseOnTheGo data from iCloud, delete the app's iCloud data through Apple's iCloud storage settings. Apple controls the retention and deletion of data held in your private iCloud database. Optional model files stay on the device until you remove them in the app or delete the app.

Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, privacy laws may give you rights over personal information. These include the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CCPA/CPRA), the EU General Data Protection Regulation (EU GDPR), and the UK GDPR. Rights may include access, correction, deletion, restriction or objection to processing, portability, and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising a privacy right. You may also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

Because Vega LLC holds no app personal data, most access, correction, portability, and deletion requests are handled directly on your device or in your own iCloud account. There is no app personal information for Vega LLC to sell or share and no sale or sharing to opt out of. Children

ExpenseOnTheGo is a business expense app and is not directed to children under 13. Vega LLC does not knowingly collect personal information from children through the app.

International transfers

Vega LLC does not transfer app data internationally because it does not receive app data. If you enable iCloud Sync or download the optional model, Apple or Hugging Face may process network or account information in countries outside your own. Their privacy terms govern that processing and any safeguards they apply.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy if the app, its data practices, or legal requirements change. We will post the revised policy on this page, update its effective date, and provide notice in the app or on the website when a change materially affects your privacy.
